Six Sentence Sunday... with Room with a View.

Welcome to another Six Sentence Sunday. Thanks to everyone who stops by to comment each week. It's going to be a damn shame when Six Sentence Sunday shuts down. I hope the bulk of people will continue on with the practice regardless. It's been awesome interacting with so many great writers each week.

Today I’ve got another six from my short story, set Post-Zombie-Apocalypse, ‘Room with a View’. Here's the blurb just to give you the set up...

Natalie has watched as the zombie plague devastated civilisation.
Angus had been a miracle. Twenty-three years old and gorgeous he had appeared like Romeo from the pool area and thrown supplies up to her balcony. But now Angus is gone – he has abandoned her, which is probably for the best. She couldn’t stand to watch him die too.
Stranded four floors up and fenced in on all sides by the infected, food and water supplies are running as low as Natalie’s spirits. A lingering death from starvation seems inevitable.
But then she sees Angus striding for the pool gate with a sawn-off shotgun in his hands. Can he make it past the infected to reach her? And what will it mean if he does?

The summer sun was blindingly bright, the weather hot and humid, typical for January. Or was it February? She’d lost track of the days.
Natalie breathed in the salty sea air as she huddled behind the curtains. She watched the world from four floors up. The penthouse apartment, because Sean had to have the best.

  1. I love this excerpt, such a sense of twisted normality and even a bit of wistfulness for what was. Great six!
