Welcome to my first eight sentences with Weekend
Writing Warriors. With the sad demise of Six Sentence Sunday, WWW has been one
of the great replacement options offered. I’d like to thank
everyone involved for giving us all the chance to continue sharing our work.
Today I’ve got eight sentences from my latest WIP, an
as yet untitled New Adult, first person point of view. Hope you
like it.
I woke up on the bathroom floor. Everything hurt. My
mouth felt like rubbish and tasted worse. Tequila shots with Lauren and dancing
with some guy – those were the last things I remembered. The countdown to
midnight, until I was twenty, no matter what my fake ID said, and then bang!
Shots.
A whole line up of little glasses with the lemon and salt on the side.
All those things
I’d heard about Vegas were true.
I'm hooked... great opening. Also that photo of the bar is amazing, do you know that place or did you find it on the interwebs?
ReplyDeleteExcellent writing. Can't wait to read more!
ReplyDeleteI like it, very promising (although the heroine starts out so miserable LOL). Excellent excerpt! Glad to find you on #8Sunday - missed your snippets!
ReplyDeleteWow, great intro, Kylie! I wasn't sure which way it was going after the "bang!" Perfect last line. :-)
ReplyDeleteWe're glad to have you :-)
Nice build up!
ReplyDeleteLove the voice and tone already, Kylie. You do both so well. :D (Also, I spied the cover for Colonist's Wife over there -->. I'll be adding that to my TBR pile next month.)
ReplyDeleteAll the things she's heard are true? Does what happened there really stay there? Fantastic opening!
ReplyDeleteWow... talk about building suspense! I definitely want to know more! Great excerpt!
ReplyDeleteWhat an opening. I interested in knowing more.
ReplyDeleteUgh, have been there...but wait 'all those things', what else happened in Vegas? Great hook!
