A look at 'Room Service' by Vanessa Stark...

Today I’d like you to meet debut Australian Romance Writer, VanessaStark, who recently shared a release day with me. Her romance novella ‘Room Service’ is about an erotic writer who just so happens to be a virgin. Are you intrigued yet? Isn’t that a great premise? And how about the gorgeous cover? RAWR!

Take it away, Vanessa...

Last August (2012) I experienced my first Romance Writers of Australia conference on the Gold Coast at the QT. What a weekend. I met so many fantastic writers and professionals, and came away with great new friends and a wealth of knowledge. I also came away with inspiration for a story - a story about a best-selling erotic romance writer with a deep dark secret and the hot hotel employee who just might be able to help her with it!

Two months later, I finished my novella and sent it off to the lovely Kate Cuthbert at Escape Publishing who then made my dream of being published come true by offering to buy my manuscript!

Room Service, my erotic romance novella is out on the 1st of February 2013 and I have RWA to thank for it. So if anybody out there has any doubts about attending their first conference, push those fears aside and do it! You never know, you may even make a first sale out of it.

Although she is a best-selling author of erotic romance, Natasha Raven has never penned a sex scene. Her sister, Liza, was responsible for the sizzle in Natasha's books – until she passed away only months ago. Now Natasha must write the scenes herself. Trouble is, she hasn't a clue what to write and being a virgin doesn't help.

When she is invited to speak at a conference workshop titled 'From Your Sheets to the Page,' Natasha panics. But a suggestive wink from a young hotel staffer named Jace gives her an idea. But will she go through with it? And is Jace all that he seems?

Weekend Writing Warriors... untitled new adult thingy.

Welcome to my first eight sentences with Weekend Writing Warriors. With the sad demise of Six Sentence Sunday, WWW has been one of the great replacement options offered. I’d like to thank everyone involved for giving us all the chance to continue sharing our work.

Today I’ve got eight sentences from my latest WIP, an as yet untitled New Adult, first person point of view. Hope you like it.

I woke up on the bathroom floor. Everything hurt. My mouth felt like rubbish and tasted worse. Tequila shots with Lauren and dancing with some guy – those were the last things I remembered. The countdown to midnight, until I was twenty, no matter what my fake ID said, and then bang!
     Shots.
A whole line up of little glasses with the lemon and salt on the side.
All those things I’d heard about Vegas were true.

The Apocalypse vs Valentine's Day

To celebrate Valentine’s Day I thought we’d take a wee peek at romance post-apocalyptic style. Can’t be done you say? Almost everyone’s dead and the world is in ruins. Monsters of various shapes and sizes are howling at the door, wanting to feast upon my innards, and you're talking schmaltzy stuff? Are you for real?

Oh, shut up. Of course it can be done. Romance isn't dead, you just have to think outside the box. Let us begin...

Blood and guts,
Might thrill me but,
The sight of you,
Makes me wanna rut.

No, wait. That’s really bad. Let’s try again.

Our love is big,
Monsters are too,
When I see Godzilla,
I think of you.

Hmm. Look, between you and me I don't think that's going to help with the wooing. Sorry. Let me see what else I've got here.

The tentacles of love that you have wrapped around my heart are not hideously constrictive and slowly squeezing the life out of me at all.

Alright, so I suck at this. Hallmark will clearly not be contacting me anytime in the near future, begging for my services. How about a book to make it up to you? Follow this link here to get a FREE copy of Flesh. Yep, a whole book absolutely free, just for you. And you and you and you. Look, we never agreed to be monogamous. You knew I was seeing other people. Oh for goodness sake, are you crying? You always do this! I don't believe you!!!

That link is only going to be up for Valentine's Day, by the way, so hop to it.
